Top Interior Shops in South Cornwall

If your heading down south for a late summer holiday or a well-needed seaside break and fancy yourself as a home shop enthusiast (just like me!), then you’re in luck as there’s a number of beautiful boutiques dotted around.

We stayed for a week in the picturesque St Ives (if you haven’t been before, I would definitely recommend visiting the pretty Cornish town) and popped to a few other pretty seaside villages nearby. The other half and fur baby had to wait outside for a while as I kept seeing these little independent interior shops that I needed to go in.

Here’s a handful of must-see boutiques in Cornwall that I visited on this year’s ‘staycation’:

The St Ives Co. - St. Ives

This cute gift and lifestyle shop is a great 2020 addition to the bustling, yet beautifully cobbled streets of St. Ives. They sell and celebrate local Cornish produce with items such as candles, ceramics, soaps, sauces, books and kitchen accessories. They're all locally crafted with the intent of tourists being able to take home a little bit of St. Ives.

Brocante - St. Ives, Mevagissey & Fowey

Just a little further up from the previous shop is the lovely Brocante store. With a mixture of country, industrial inspired and traditionally beautiful items, this shop is up there with my favourites in Cornwall (so much so it made me take the trips to Mevagissey & Fowey to see the other shops too!). You’ll definitely find something here that will tickle your fancy and match your interior. I may have purchased a lantern, a framed St Ives artwork and a few accessories to bring back to North Wales with me.

Cream - St. Ives

If you’re looking for a strong coastal vibe of home accessories and kitchenware, then you need to head straight to Cream Cornwall. They pride themselves in designing distinctive bold collections from Cornwall that will instantly brighten your living space, including their well-loved Reef, Nankersey Coastal & Shipwreck collections.

Home & Gift - St Ives

This contemporary Home & Gift shop is jam-packed with pretty homeware, stationery, candles and prints. They too, source locally crafted items such as wax melts and bath items and sell beautifully printed gift paper with Cornish landmarks (I may have also purchased a pretty Cornish 2021 calendar from here).

The Painted Bird - St. Ives

Another popular independent shop nestled in St. Ives is The Painted Bird. Bustling with a beautiful assortment of homeware, jewellery, bags and gifts, they specialise in ethically sourced and handmade items with a unique feel. Their ceramic collections would make beautiful additions to your kitchen and living space.

Hudson - St. Ives

If you have a little one or searching for a lovely gift, then you need to pop into Hudson in St. Ives. Whilst they do include a small collection of cushions and ceramics for the home, this shop also sells stationery and crafts, with a main focus on children’s nursery items including beautiful Maileg toys and accessories. Whenever I have a small person, I shall certainly be getting a few things from here!

Sand Cornwall - St. Ives

Our final lovely small interior shop situated in St. Ives is Sand Cornwall. I loved their selection of ceramic mugs, plates and kitchenware but they also sell a variety of gifts, jewellery and furniture from a number of well-known brands, including the Cornish celebrated Rick Stein’s coastal kitchen items.

Heather Jane & Co - Fowey

Nestled in the beautifully quaint, seaside town of Fowey (pronounced Foy) is this amazing little shop called Heather Jane & Co. They celebrate local crafters and only sell items that have been handmade from various small business and creators from the South West. You can find bath bombs, candles, art, jewellery, cushions, wooden accessories and ceramics here.

Clementine - Fowey

Clementine is a beautiful homeware, lifestyle & gift shop that helps Fowey in being the pretty and popular town that it is. I guarantee that you’ll find something to walk out with, whether it’s a gift for a wedding, child, the other half, clothing, jewellery, art or a decorative home item.

Mrs Noah's - Fowey

Next up is the lovely Mrs Noah’s homeware and gift shop that sells beautiful country and farmhouse goodies. Even the building itself is full of country charm with amazing bare beams, creating a wonderful cottagey-feel. Each little nook of the shop is filled with a different collection of handmade cushions & throws, doggy themed items, travel themed, seasonal accessories, kitchen items and ceramics. Everything is also beautifully displayed on country dressers and furniture.

She Sells - Mevagissey

This pretty little shop is located right on the harbour of the pretty fishing village, Mevagissey. She Sells is split into two sections; one selling the yummiest crêpes and ice creams, with the other full of pretty gifts and home accessories (the perfect shop ever!).

Fresk - Mevagissey

Fresk is also a combination of contemporary homeware and gifts that also sells healthy snacks and coffees. In this quirky shop you’ll find eco-friendly and sustainable kitchen accessories including straws, leaf food wraps, candles, bags and beneficial cannabis goods.

Stein's - Padstow

Padstow is yet another lovely seaside Cornish town and can be associated with celebrity chef, Rick Stein, who has a few shops, restaurants and a hotel there. One of them being this pretty coastal interior shop. Although it’s not a small business, it is a cute interior shop with a selection of unique designs of cushions, ceramics and utensils that you need to pop into if you visit the harbour town.

The Bank - Padstow

Just around the corner is The Bank, a lovely interior and gift shop with a pretty bright white front. Everything has a strong nautical presence that would definitely remind you of Cornwall when taken back home. A selection of items sold include candles, door stops, kitchen ware, ceramics and general seaside decorative items.

Mockbeggar Wharf - Padstow

If you’re holidaying in Cornwall and looking to take something unique back home, then popping into Mockbeggar Wharf on the corner is a must! Everything is amazing and is completely handmade from local driftwood found on the Cornish beaches by a lovely gentleman. You can purchase lamps, beautifully carved mirrors, candle holders, miniature houses, storage blocks and decorative items.

Rural Urban - Wadebridge

On the way back home to North Wales we stopped for a little walk in the lovely market town in North Cornwall, Wadebridge and came across this beautiful independent interior shop. It looked like the building used to be a house as every room was full to the brim with gorgeous modern country and eclectic homeware and accessories.

Jo & Co - Wadebridge

My final interior shop is definitely up there in my top 2 that I visited in Cornwall and is the amazing Jo & Co! It’s located on the Hawksfield site next to the ultimate man cave of vintage motorcycles and the yummiest café (which is an extra bonus!) You can find a variety of home, lifestyle and beauty accessories here from neutral throws, vases and large sink-into-sofas to beautiful jewellery and face creams.

So here they are - a handful of my favourite independent home boutiques that we stumbled across on our Cornish travels this summer, to help you get your interior fix whilst on holiday. We’ll have to ensure we visit different towns next time we’re lucky enough to head down to the Cornish coast and see what other house goodies I can purchase.

If you’re not heading anywhere on your travels for a while, you can always have a virtual browse round The Burrow. Just head to www.theburrowinteriors.co.uk for a selection of country, Nordic and modern rustic home accessories.
